A firm and a destination for talent
Our founders set out to create a destination for the industry’s top talent – professionals with a passion for helping sophisticated organizations articulate their unique value, build meaningful relationships and grow to their full potential.
Before they had named the business, landed a client or signed an office lease, Greentarget’s founders knew what they wanted to build: a company that would become a destination for the industry’s top talent. That vision still guides us, and over the years it has helped us assemble a group of gifted professionals with an abiding passion for the work we do.
We take enormous pride in the longevity of much of our staff. Several members of our senior team came to us as interns and have spent their entire professional careers at Greentarget. We believe that is a direct reflection of the way we live our values every day and of our efforts to make each day valuable and rewarding for our team.
We ask the team to bring that passion to their work every day, and in return we promise them not only interesting work, competitive compensation and generous benefits but also the opportunity to pursue the things they are most passionate about – in both their professional and personal lives.
At Greentarget, we’ve made a commitment to be more aggressive about changing the face of PR – to ensure that we’re bringing in a range of different perspectives and backgrounds that will better serve our profession, as well as the clients and communities with which we work.
But diversifying PR isn’t just about flipping a switch. It’s an ongoing process that starts with educating and attracting new people to our field before they hit the workforce. In addition to our work with organizations like the PR Council, PRSA, and the Emma Bowen Foundation on these efforts, we’re excited to participate in a new apprenticeship program co-designed by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, One Million Degrees, and City Colleges of Chicago.
As participants in the second cohort of this year-long program, we have taken on two apprentices – one on a content track, one on the traditional PR side – who are gaining experience in all of Greentarget’s work while continuing their studies.
This program is part of a larger apprenticeship initiative called the Chicago Apprentice Network, whose mission is to provide equal access to employment opportunities by helping companies leverage the apprenticeship model to fill their talent pipelines with diverse and qualified talent.
Our Partnership With Bowie State University
As part of Greentarget’s effort to diversify PR and our own talent pipeline, we recently launched a partnership with Bowie State University, an HBCU located in Bowie, Maryland, in which we commit to holding at least one spot in our paid, full-time internship program for a BSU student year-round.
In addition to having students join our internship program, our team has presented to BSU’s communication board. We will also be holding regular training sessions with BSU’s PR classes, on topics such as thought leadership development and op-ed writing.
